Assessment Policy
The primary purpose of assessment is to improve student learning. At Hillcrest, we promote valid and meaningful assessment practices. Students will show their learning through a variety of assessment tasks. Teachers will use this information to provide written or verbal feedback to students, to guide instruction, and to promote improvement in student achievement. Teachers will provide clear criteria for students so they will know what they are learning and how to demonstrate mastery. This process is intended to support ongoing improvement and involves the students in becoming accountable and responsible for their learning in a supportive manner. Teachers will triangulate their evidence (observations, conversations, products) and use the most recent work when making final judgments and reporting on student outcomes.
